About Duke Windsor

The Artist

Duke Windsor is a fine art painter based in Southern California. His work captures the overlooked beauty of everyday landscapes — quiet alleys at dusk, golden light on garage doors, the tangle of utility wires against a California sky.

Born in Texarkana, Texas, Windsor’s life has been defined by discipline, craft, and an uncommon range of pursuits. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a radio operator, combat illustrator, and drill instructor. After his military service, he worked as a freelance illustrator, competed as an amateur rodeo cowboy, studied classical voice at San Diego State University, and performed with the San Diego Opera Chorus. He holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Kempo and remains active as a singer-songwriter and performer.

Windsor brings over 15 years of museum exhibition design and installation experience, with roles at the San Diego Museum of Art, the San Diego Museum of Man, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the San Diego History Center, and the Mingei International Museum. He served as the founding Director of Exhibits for the USS Midway Museum and is currently the CAD Design Engineering Manager at Full Swing Golf Simulators in Carlsbad, California.

Each painting is an invitation to slow down and see the extraordinary in the ordinary.
